For seven years, SEVEN flippin' years a group of us in the agency have been involved in a major project. It was the millstone that I referred to here, and the completion of which was such a major achievement. The report and presentation can only scratch the surface of what it took to get the job done: the level of research and data analysis and manipulation. The level of experience with old classical survey data and detective work the project took. I had e-mailed the final product to person who was our contact for the agency we did this for. Since I hadn't heard back from him I double checked today. And discovered that, oh, by the way, the other agency cancelled the project due to lack of funding. Apparently some time ago.
Nobody so much as sent us an e-mail. I don't know whether to cry or throw up.
I'm so sorry PH!
ReplyDeleteOmigosh, that's awful. So sorry, ma'am.
ReplyDeleteThat TRULY SUCKS! But I'd damn sure keep a copy, and maybe y'all can self publish it!
ReplyDeleteOh no, that just sucks!!!! I'm so sorry.
ReplyDeleteWhat agirl said.....
ReplyDelete@Keads, Rev. Paul, Old NFO, agirl, and Matt - Thanks. It was inexcusable - we kept them appraised each step of the way, and they knew it was taking a major amount of work. Yet they never let us know when the project was dropped. Not a word.
ReplyDeleteI'm considering whether I can rework my final report to at least publish in a trade magazine.
Holy Crap! Sorry to hear that.
ReplyDeleteMay I suggest heavy dosages of recoil therapy followed by heavy doses hops-based medication.
I must confess to stopping at Dish last night on the way home for a couple of Janette's most excellent margaritas. And of recoil therapy is also on my mind - it's amazing how the focus necessary to shoot well forces the mind to let go of other things and in the end relaxes.
DeleteIt's called the Zen of shooting! Remember our conversations at the bar with Murph?
DeleteWe were at a bar...
DeleteI agree with recoil therapy and perhaps a spot of good whiskey afterwards.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise I too, would be tempted to just throw up.
Does your group have any rights to the research to use it elsewhere?
