A project that has hung around my neck like a millstone for several plodding years is finally nearing completion. I'm to the report writing stage. And it's so frustrating because there is no way I'll be able to encompass all the details, agonies, and levels of research of this project in a few paragraphs. And since it involved classical surveying, most of the people reading the report will have no idea what I'm talking about.
Write a 'second' paper with ALL the details and sell it as a book! :-)
ReplyDeleteI would so try selling essays about this stuff to history magazines if I could. But can't while I'm an employee.
DeleteWell THAT just sucks... I'd be sitting them back for 'later'... Just sayin...
DeleteSounds frustrating.
ReplyDeleteTo quote Old NFO - sigh...

DeleteWell, bummer.
ReplyDeleteYeah, particularly since it's a sign that I'm one of the office old farts.

DeleteI went to half priced books with partner and he was all beside himself to find some historical surveying books in the old and classic section. There are those that would love to hear more about it.
ReplyDeleteWe have various documents that you can tease amazing stories from. Like the letter written by the first mate reporting to the head of our agency that their captain had been swept off the deck of one of our ships and lost at sea during a hurricane off Hatteras. The head of the agency was the captain's father.
