What did I find in the road in front of my house yesterday evening but this:
Since it was just a few yards from where I found the turtle I blogged about yesterday, I'm assuming it's the same turtle. The white things below the carcase are her eggs.
I wish people would slow the $#@! and pay attention around here. There's no reason why anyone should have been going too fast to see her on this street.
Sadly, many of the redneck zipperheads around here would swerve to hit an animal like that on purpose.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I know.
DeleteWhat ML said. I used to know truck drivers who'd go out of their way to hit turtles. No reason except orneriness.
ReplyDeleteOrneriness isn't the word I use for that.
DeleteWhat a shame! She was a pretty one.
ReplyDeleteYes, and it's really upsetting that she was carrying eggs - I could have had more turtles to help keep the slugs down.
Delete*sigh* +1 to what Murph said.
ReplyDeletePeople like that make me want to punch them.
DeleteWait! Wait!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it always the left-wing tree huggers who complain about such behavior? You guys have it all backward!

We're racist homophobes, too.
DeleteWell, crap. I hate seeing that. I know turtles can pile on the speed if necessary (seriously, some of those bass-turds can burn some serious rubber!), but for the most part, its not like they dart out in front of cars on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteAnd she was a humped brown and yellow object on a grey road.
DeleteWhen ever possible I stop and move them across the road
