I'm not worried about the corona virus in the US any more than I worried about SARS or Zika or any other of the hysterias the media has pushed.

But I am becoming worried about Stupid Panicked People.  So I guess I'll stock the downstairs freezer.  I have a couple month's of dry stuff in my emergency stash but maybe I should prepare a fresher it's-not-really-an-emergency-but people-are-crazy stash.  To be eaten when things calm down.

It's Not That I Object To Beer For Breakfast...

It's just that I don't think their coffee is all that.

... while dems are wallowing in coronavirus hype, let's reflect on which American president signed an executive order outlawing the development of offensive bio-weapons in the US.

That would be President Richard M. Nixon.  For those so dumb that they'd put up a plaque honoring Abraham Lincoln as a democrat at a university, Nixon was a Republican.

There Are Gaffes...

...and then there's cognitive decline.  What's wrong with Biden's family and friends that they haven't pulled him aside and told him that the campaign has to end and he needs to be thoroughly examined by a doctor specializing in the elderly.

Oh Just Stop

I don't care where the coronovirus came from.  Viruses do what viruses do.  Which is invade a cell and reproduce until the cell explodes, spewing new viruses out to do the same again.

You want to know the details of what a virus can do then read the books about all the research that has been done on the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918.  THAT was a pandemic.

But the problem is that the CDC says that the regular flu season has already hospitalized 280,000 and killed 16,000 this season.  THIS season.  In the US alone.  The coronivirus is a piker.

Stop wearing the stupid masks that can't block a virus.  Stop fussing.  Wash your hands.  Keep your hands away from your face.  If you are worried then stay away from groups of people. 

But please stop fussing.  You are messing up my IRA and I guaran-damn-tee you that virtually all of us will be alive to need those investments next year.  And the next year and the next year...

Made Me Laugh

My nephew sent me this pic this morning from his house outside Raleigh, NC.

He says "Schools are closed. Businesses are opening late. Please send thoughts and prayers that we make it through."

What I Saw

Last year or maybe the year before.  There's a little park with a lake down the street from The Kids.  Walk the dog, walk the kid, feed the fish, whatever.  And we headed over there only to find the loop around the lake packed.  Mostly with 20-something folks who were flabby, pale, and staring at their cell phones as they looped around said lake.  Turns out it is a major collection site for an on-line game I can't even remember the name of. Pokeman?

I have two questions.  1)  is species Homo Sapiens on its way out?  and 2) what the hell is wrong with society if we are concerned about beating these people in an election?
