Thinking About Having A Good Cry...

 ...over this one.

Loved the The Monkees, but Mike Nesmith was far and away the most talented of the lot, and I loved the music he made after the group broke up.

Rest in peace, Mike.

In Addition To All The Other Ass-hattery...

 ...the prosecutor in the Rittenhouse trial pointed an AR at the jury today.  With his finger on the trigger.  Bet he didn't check to see if it was cleared, either.

If there is a way to totally bury this guy in complaints, we should do it.

"Racism!"

They dug yesterday's grave and they are still digging like crazy.

Winsome Sears is prolly wondering how racism put her in office.  But it seems like that's the only shovel they've got.

I still won't be happy until oaths of office are taken.  But I'm a little more comfortable today.

That Was Such A Good Idea

Getting rid of the mean tweets.  And the stuff that came with it.  Like energy independence.   So I could feel privileged to pay $3.45 a gallon.

As things go down the crapper I'm really torn.  Should I LAUGH in the face of people I know were Biden supporters when they complain?  Or PUNCH them in the face?  I know which one would feel better in the moment.

I Don't Like Baldwin

But I don't think this was deliberate.  I think being anti-gun and living in la-la imagination land led to Something Bad.  You and I would never have done this.  Because we are Evil Gun Owners we know and practice The Rules.

I never knew until this tragedy that they use live ammo on movie sets.  Really?  In this day and age of special effects overwhelming everything, why is that necessary?  Even more, why are people who hate guns and therefore don't train with them being handed guns loaded with live ammo?

Of course, this will be blamed on Evil Guns.  Rather than stupid handling of those guns by inept human beings.

Overheard

While I picked up my SUV after a gazillion dollars worth of repairs and maintenance: 1) orders for parts sent out the first of September still haven't arrived and 2) the cost of parts has literally doubled.

Guess that's how we "Build Back Better."

Unmasked

The masking hysteria is trying to crank up here again.  There are signs plastered all over our church doors saying that our bishop has asked that everyone entering the building for Mass wear a mask.  My reaction was "He can ask that I wear a pink tutu to Mass and 1) it would be equally effective and 2) my reaction would be the same: 'No.'"   At least 75% of the congregation seems to agree with me.

At least one of the chain businesses has also pulled down the "You are good if you are vaccinated" signs and replaced them with "Please wear masks" signs.  Which are largely ignored.

The folks who run the local farmer's market are still requiring masks. It's about done for this year but  I've actually heard people talking about setting up a competing market that doesn't require masks if the foolishness persists into next year.

Neither the city or county police will enforce mask "mandates."

I think people are kinda tired of it and increasingly just not going to play anymore.

As to the vaccine "booster", well, the instant the panel in charge of such things overwhelminly voted against it but were overruled by a political appointee I decided I'm not going to play that game, either.

Pending

With a bright red flag.  My language is clean despite the impulse to swear.  And yet when I point out things like how the concerns Pope Paul VI expressed in "Humanae Vitae" about women becoming objects are coming true with nonsense language like "birthing person" I get hit with a bright red  "Pending" flag on a couple "conservative" sites.

If you are female and think that the "sexual revolution" freed you then you are as dumb as blacks who think the Democrat party is their salvation.  You just bought into the most recent face of slavery and became the house slave that looks down on the field hands.

It Was A Day Much Like Today

A beautiful September day, warm but dry, gorgeous blue sky.  I lived in the DC suburb of Gaithersburg, MD, and was teleworking that day.  I was sitting at the dining room table. For some reason I had to reboot my computer and whenever you did that a news banner - from AOL I think - always popped up for a moment.  This time the banner carried a simple statement that a plane had hit one of the WTC towers.  I clicked on the link, but that's all the info there was so I knew it was recent.  I assumed that some poor sod in a small plane had really screwed up.  I went on working.  Then, when I checked back, there was craziness, a lot of it not seeming to make sense.  And something about a plane that they had lost track of.  I emailed my boss.  He emailed back that they had been dismissed, government buildings were being evacuated.  That was really a bad idea.  Public transportation had been shut down, stranding thousands of government workers without a way to get home.  Everything shutting down and the thousands who need the commuter rail or buses were left standing on platforms.  I am everlastingly glad I was teleworking that day.

By this time I had the TV on.

And Mom called from NC.  I've been thinking about that these last couple days:  Mom listening to reports of Pearl Harbor coming in on the radio, Mom watching 9/11 unfold on the TV.  Probably preceded both times by a phone call from someone: "Have you heard?!"  I wonder if there was a moment of a sense of dizziness, of deja vu?  I've experienced that when I've first caught a bit of news of something that followed the pattern of a previous event:  when I turned on the news and a reporter was talking about a space shuttle exploding (the Columbia, years after the Challenger) and when I hopped in the car and the radio said Jimmy Carter had sent his condolences on the death of the Pope. (John Paul I, one month after Paul VI).  For a instant each time I felt ... odd.  Confused.  Like time had hiccupped and rerun.  I wonder if she felt that way?  I never thought to ask.  I just remember that she was crying.

I remember, too, how quiet it was with all but military air traffic grounded.  I had never realized how common the sound of planes and jets is in the background of our daily life.

And, of course, I remember the chest-clenching pain and grief as the horror unfolded.

Then the connections.  My supervisor lost a brother-in-law on Flight 93.  A co-worker's daughter's friend was in one of the towers and made it to the doors but the building had warped, jamming them.  He did eventually manage to force his way out.

In December of that year, I had to fly for work.  As we drove into the airport parking lot at Oh-God-Hundred, my partner spotted a cell phone lying on the road, stopped, and picked it up.  Every name in the phone's address book was Arab.  It was not comforting.

Now, on this day 20 years later, our government has armed our enemies to the teeth with modern equipment, left Americans under the control of a brutal regime that despises them, actually blocking attempts by private groups to get them out, and, as a grand finale, has used a drone to kill a family, an aide worker, and blow up tanks of water.

I'm very depressed today.  Not about the past, not about the anniversary.  About the present.  I'm much more depressed about 9/11/2021 than about 9/11/2001.

ML Got No Internet

And won't for, well, you've seen what Ida did.  Wierd thing this morning was that he could phone out but not text out.  But we probably won't see an AAR for quite a while.

Murphy's Law

Murphy and the pups, who have sat out Ida just a few blocks from the French Quarter, still have a roof and walls.  No power, and probably won't for weeks but Murph was prepared for that.  It looks like Ida is loosing strength and the bitch just needs to move her ass on.

Guess He Has A Busy Schedule

Because he had to check his watch as the bodies he's responsible for came back from Afghanistan.

Purposeful

I've commented before on how it's so hard to believe that the whirlwind of destruction we've seen since Inauguration Day is purely accidental.  I know there are stupid people.  I know there are inept government officials.  Not to mention avaricious and arrogant.  But this is not like a baby given a hammer and bashing things randomly.   It's as if Joe Biden has known from get go every button to punch to destroy something.  And now Afghanistan.

From an opinion piece over at The Daily Caller:

With regard to Afghanistan, millions of Americans are watching a historic debacle unfolding in real time. They see the hasty and seemingly unfathomable withdrawal of troops by the Biden administration, while thousands of Americans and Afghan loyalists remain stranded behind enemy lines, or stacked up like cord wood at a civilian-controlled Kabul airport increasingly vulnerable to terrorist attacks — even as they learned the military-controlled Bagram Air Base was abandoned in the middle of the night. They know billions of dollars of sophisticated U.S. weaponry, including aircraft, were also left behind and seized by the Taliban. They watch in disgust while a parade of seemingly impotent administration figures, including CIA Director William Burns, plead with terrorists to extend the August 31 withdrawal deadline. And above all else, they watch America’s standing as a superpower virtually evaporate, as Joe Biden has meekly surrendered the most potent military in the world to a ragtag bunch of seventh-century goat herders.

In short, they are appalled by the almost unfathomable level of incompetence demonstrated by this president and his administration. Perhaps they should consider another scenario that elicits a troubling question: What if it’s all by design?

I Paid About $18 To See A Movie In A Theater

Last night.  I never pay that much.  We have a $5 theater just up the road.  And I have a big TV.  But once in a while a movie needs to be on a big screen, with the whole theater experience.  This month is Gene Roddenberry's 100th birthday.  And the 35th anniversary of the release of the best of all the Star Trek movies, Star Trek IV: The Journey Home.

There were only 5 of us in the theater.  My daughter and her husband went to the earlier show and there were only 12 there. That makes me sad.  Because once there was much joy in dreaming of finding out what's out there.

I smiled all the way from the first musical notes to the end.  Because these are my people.  These are the people we dreamed of in the 60s.  We were multiculturists, we were believers in diversity.

Now we are called racists.  Bigots.  And a hundred other nasty names.

I was a bit tearful on the way home.  I miss them so much.  Scotty, Bones, and Spock (and his parents) long buried.  Uhuru lost in dementia, Sulu lost in bitterness.  Kirk at least, at 90, still busy.  Chekov mourning the freak death of a son.

And it all was juxtaposed against the current "leadership" as we leave Afghanistan.

A crew willing to disobey orders and face whatever that brings to do what is right.  Against the lack of a voice crying in the wilderness.

These, these imaginary people, THESE are my people.  And I miss them, and the great heart behind them, so very, very much.

Need More Duct Tape

To wrap around head to keep it from exploding.

It's being reported that Americans being evacuated from Afghanistan are being charged up to $2000 for the privilege of getting out of the mess their government left them in.

Yet thousands of illegals are being bused and flown all over the US for free.

Startling

Well.  My actual given name is a bit unusual.  Mom said that it was made up by my maternal grandmother and given to Mom's hydrocephalic sister who didn't survive birth.   OK, so I got named after someone who died.  Sigh.

Today I was calling around trying to find a vet to see one of my kitties, Artie.  One of the emergency vet office receptionists answered with her first name.  Pause.  Me: "Excuse me, but what did you say your name was?" ... Me:  "That's MY name!"  Turns out her mother's name is the same.  Her family history says it's a name made up by a great-whatever-grandparent.  I looked up where she says her family roots are.  It's entirely possible that previous generations of our families crossed paths.

As to my grandmother saying she made up the name...she was hell on wheels and not completely attached to honesty.  To say the least.  Also probably mentally ill.  Or Mom misinterpreted what she was told.

My, That Sounds Familiar (Corrected Version)

"Taliban fighters in the Afghan capital, Kabul, started collecting weapons from civilians on Monday because people no longer need them for personal protection, a Taliban official said.

“We understand people kept weapons for personal safety. They can now feel safe. We are not here to harm innocent civilians,” the official told Reuters."

Except It Didn't Stop There

 Yesterday's speech: "The buck stops here."  Also "It's Trumps fault.  And the Afghani military's fault.  And the Afghani government's fault."

To paraphrase from a favorite movie:  "You keep using that phrase.  I do not think you know what it means."

Monday, August 16, 2021

Stop. Just stop.

Stop saying "Buyer's remorse" about Biden voters.  You don't get to be remorseful.  You just get to OWN IT.  There isn't a single thing that has happened since the election that those who were opposed to Biden didn't say would happen.  The only surprise has been how fast it has happened.

And Yet

 ...they deny there are parallels.

A Nuremberg Code Violation In That

Given that the covid vaccines are experimental, emergency use only, and the Nuremberg Code of 1947 clearly states that "The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential." it seems like any "mandatory" vaccine orders are clearly a violation of that code.

Last Night's Freakout

Was because I was getting texts from family that's 500 miles away.  They were sheltering in their laundry room in the brick part of their house as tornado sirens wailed all around them.  NWS said today that 3 tornados are confirmed for their county. And their sky was not only green but a weird pinkish color:

I'm afraid of wind.  As I said, "Wizard Of Oz" freaks me out.  I'd never survive a hurricane because I'd just die of a heart attack. (Yeah, ask me about the effect of watching Katrina grind towards towards the people and places we'd worked in for 2 years...)

The kids are OK.  My nerves are a little more shot...

Freaking Out Freaking Out

Because my family is sheltering in the center of their house and a tornado is on the ground.  And I can see from the radar that the worst isn't even there yet.

There's a reason I can't watch "Wizard of Oz."  The tornado.  Even though I know the details of that particular special effect.

I'm pretty much freaking out now...

Now It's War

 Pulled off my shin Thursday:

And from behind my knee on Friday:

Aaaand pulled a Lone Star tick off pup last night even though he's treated.

Found permithren and a spray with much higher Deet concentration at Tractor Supply.  And every sock, every pair of pants, every shirt that I wear when hiking or working in the yard is getting soaked with the permithren.

I've had Lyme Disease twice and some other tick born disease that required antibiotics before Lyme Disease popped up.  I'm done with these miserable bugs.

And then there was last night's weirdness.  Was sitting on the deck watching the fireflies come out and a bird flew over me.  And pooped on my head.  As I was in the "What the..." stage a tree simply fell down across my back yard.  Just...fell.  I'm not sure why but right now I seem to be at war with nature.

Monday, June 14, 2021

Gaaaahhhh!

Cover myself in Off.  Soak my clothes and shoes in it.  Style my hair with it. And just yanked a tick off my throat.  The third one that's gotten attached this season. My dog gets treated with a cheap repellant each month.  I don't find ticks or fleas on him.  I want the same stuff for me.

I'm Shocked! Shocked!

 Well, actually, I'm not.

According to The Daily Mail:

Chinese military scientist 'filed a patent for a COVID-19 vaccine BEFORE the virus was declared a global pandemic and worked closely with 'bat woman' at Wuhan institute'

Hm.  Almost as if they knew the virus was going to "get out" and were working on a vaccine concurrently with the gain of function work they were doing on it.  Which suggests, just possibly, that it was deliberately released.

"But but but GASP!  They wouldn't do that to their own people!"  Mao killed at least 45 million of his own people without batting an eye.  They are enslaving and killing their own people NOW.  The Chinese regime wouldn't flinch at killing a few million more if it gained them the global position they have been working towards more quickly.

And, if it WAS released deliberately, it would be an act of war, not just against the US but against the entire world.  If it wasn't for the fact that millions of Chinese are stuck in a brutal regime that they don't want, this would be a completely justifiable reason to turn several areas of China into complete desolation.

The other thing I'm not shocked about is the fact that I have to go to news sources outside of the US to find news that should be reported INSIDE the US.  I wish I was, though.  Follow the link to read the article in a British, not American, newspaper.

I May Have To Leave The Community Website

Because the bears aren't the least bit interested in hurting their kids.

Because the 6 inch snake they found on their deck isn't interested in biting them.

Because if the temporary invasion of the 17 year cicadas freaks them out...

...along with the bears and coyotes and snakes...

THEN MAYBE THEY SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN THE DAMNED CITY!!!!

But apparently once you get emphatic about such things you get thrown off the site.

The Signs Are Coming Down

Update:  Apparently I missed the announcement, but our guv DID announce that vaccinated folks are now free from the face diaper requirement.  Not that I have any intention of showing my "papers" anyplace.

Our governor has promised that he will free us peasants from his mask order on June 20, in celebration of West Virginia's birthday. Like most of these bozos he doesn't seem to be aware that we aren't slobbering in gratitude over his munificence.

I'd like to ask him why he's no longer in the "I follow the science" category.  Of course, that phrase is one of the most useless bits of parroting to come out of the past year.

But over the last few days I've noticed that those "Mask Required" signs have been disappearing around here, despite the fact that as far as I know neither the governor nor the local health department has blessed us with permission to take off the face diapers.  And I'm seeing more and more people, including some store and restaurant staff, blessedly naked of face.

I think people are finally doing what should have been done a year ago:  quietly saying "Stuff it."

They're Baaaaaack!

Brood X of the 17 year cicadas has finally started appearing on my property.

17 years underground, emerge, mate and lay eggs, and die.  By the millions.  I'm curious as to what my cats and the pup will think of them once they really get going and start landing on the screens and porches.

As We Wait For Jim Justice To "Follow The Science"...

The Fauci's Prayer

-------

Our Fauci,  who art in D.C.,

Hallowed be thy name,

The virus comes,

 and won't be done

On earth until you say so

Give us today, a mask mandate

And forgive us our masklessness,

As we forgive those who are maskless among us,

And lead us all into vaccination,

But deliver us from covid

For thine is the nation and the power, and the glory

For ever and ever

Amen

You Know How After A While...

 ...you stop bothering to read things like "People" while waiting at the dentist's office or while in line at the grocery store?  Except maybe if the "National Enquier" headline is "The Sad Last Days Of..." and you think "Oh, is he/she still alive?"  Yeah.  Been like that for years.  I don't watch current TV and I don't listen to current music.  So I have no clue who those people are, or who they've dated/married/divorced, etc.  Don't care, either.

But I just finished this book - a yard sale acquisition:

And I knew every actor, every director, every author, every scriptwriter in this book.  And it was bloody good fun.

Perhaps it shouldn't be fun:  it basically chronicles the rather spectacular alcoholic performances of Hollywood greats from the Silent Era (first up - Fatty Arbuckle) through "New Hollywood" (last up - Natalie Wood.) And you really shouldn't laugh sometimes - a lot of these people, like Judy Garland, were fighting demons most of us can't even comprehend.  But then there's the pranks the likes of a completely blitzed Buster Keaton would get involved with and you can't help thinking "Dang.  I wish I could think up something like that!"  And the whole thing with Charlie Chaplin and the belief that iodine would prevent STDs...yeah...As a Chaplin fan I'm still trying to get THAT picture out of my mind.  Richard Harris is quoted as saying "I often sit back and think, I wish I'd done that, and find out later that I already have." And the number of my favorites who periodically woke up with a blinding hangover and no idea where they were is rather a lot.  They also made a lot of fabulous movies while stoned, drunk, and/or hungover.

I'm pretty amazed at the sheer capacity of consumption sometimes, and that some of them managed to live as long as they did while downing quarts of hard liquor and cases of beer every day, with an off day being just a few bottles of wine.  And still act and still write and still direct even while being holy terrors:  Peckinpah was constantly a drugged out, alcoholic nut case, carried a gun on the set, and peed on the screen when daily rushes for Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid turned out to be out of focusThe Apocalypse Now hotel scene was shot on Martin Sheen's 36 birthday, and he steadily drank himself into a drunken oblivion that is preserved in the movie.  Earlier greats had a variety of comments on the subject: "You can't drown yourself in drink.  I've tried: you float." (John Barrymore 1882-1942); "I'm no alcoholic; I'm a drunkard.  There's a difference.  A drunkard doesn't go to meetings." (Jackie Gleason 1916-1987); "I put liquor in my milk, in my coffee, and in my orange juice.  What do you want me to do, starve to death?' (Francis Farmer 1913-1970); "Tequila makes your head hurt. Not from your hangover. From falling over and hitting your head." (John Wayne 1907-1979).

Sandwiched in between are tales of the legendary hotels, clubs and bars and how a great many familiar and not so familiar drinks came to be.  The Moscow Mule, for instance: too many cases of Smirnoff vodka and a surplus of house made ginger beer and Broderick Crawford as a taste tester.  And then there was Ava Gardner's Mommy's Little Mixture: dump every type of liquor you can find into a jug or pitcher.  I'll pass on trying that one.

All I Got To Say Is...

Tanning

Caught a little bit of someone's YouTube or Tiktok or some other commentary this morning.  Or afternoon.  Maybe it was Grace Curley's show out of Boston.  Streaming radio can be even more confusing than catching the weather report for Buffolo, NY, on your AM radio when you are driving back to college in Morgantown, WV, in the 70s before US 68 was built.

Anyway, one of the Eternally Offended was making it clear that if you deliberately get a sun tan you are committing a heinous act of cultural appropriation.

Anyone want to give me odds on whether or not that same person believes that whacking off a weenie and putting on a dress changes a boy into a girl?

1:30 AM and GACK!

The bedroom smoke alarm went off.  Not an annoying beep: a full blown alarm.  Me, cats, dog - rocket a foot in the air.  No smoke, though.  None at all.  So my unsteady self climbed on stool and yanked the offending alarm out of the ceiling.  There are alarms in the other bedrooms and in the hall and once mine was was disconnected from electricity and the battery pulled out (the alarms are interconnected) there was blessed silence.  Alarm is less than a year old.  Battery is no older - I replaced all the alarms and batteries last summer.

Copper refused to come back to bed.  Once I got back to sort-of sleep I had bad dreams and drooled all over my pillow the rest of the night.

Haven't put the damn thing back yet.

Er...Was Heinlein a Pervert?

Once in a gazillion years my book cases actually get cleared off and everything is dusted and wiped down.  The reno work in the house produced about a ton of dust that got into everything so it was time.  And along the way I found old paperback books that I had forgotten about and wasn't sure why they were still there other than maybe sentimentality.  I know why I have Bradbury and Burroughs - I still actually read them and haven't found a complete compendium of them to take the place of the fragile paperbacks I bought in the 60s.  I was able to replace my Lovecraft with a single hardback volume but not John Connor of Mars or Ray Bradburys because, well Bradbury wrote I-don't-know-how-many books and I probably couldn't afford to replace him with hardbacks now even if they were all gathered together.  And the Mars compendiums only seem to have some of the books, not all of them. I've looked.

But I found some Asimov and some Heinlein and some other authors I couldn't remember on the shelves and decided to read them because, well, I couldn't remember them.

Heinlein was one of the  sci-fi gods of my era.  So The Door Into Summer, first published in 1956, was my first pick.

Um.  OK. It was interesting to see what he thought 1970 and 2000 would look like.  And he had a cat. But I kept thinking of "The Jetsons" robot Rosey.

Still OK, although his idea that Los Angeles would become a magnificent place has fallen a tad short in reality.

But partway through the book I started to get uncomfortable.  His partner has a small daughter that the main character, Danny, adores. He's Uncle Danny.  OK so far.  But in the midst of long cryo-sleeps and time travel you realize both that Danny only knows this child from age about 6 to age 11 AND that he's sexually attracted.  At an older age, sure, but he doesn't know her at an older age. And at age 11 she asks him to marry her and he excitedly agrees.  There's Long Sleeps in between, but WTHF!?

There's a happily-ever-after ending.  But for all that Heinlein brought me dreams of rockets and space travel I wouldn't let him around my granddaughter after reading this book.

Just a Refresher Course...

 ...for those like John Kerry who think we have to get all carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.

I like plants and I like oxygen, so let's not do that, OK?

And I would also like to refer CA folks, whose governor has apparently banned new drilling/fracking in the state in the future, to the list of things manufactured out of petroleum that I posted here

I Have An Idea

Which would be that every person who says anything to the effect of "Why didn't they shoot them in the leg?" gets a solid backhand to the mouth.  Then they get shoved into a patrol car every night for at least a month in a city like Baltimore or Chicago.  At the end of that month they get dumped on a curb in the middle of the night in one of those cities and left to get home on their own.

It's Too Expensive...

 ...for regular consumption, but I'm still going to have to buy some.  And maybe a mug.  This is just too brilliant.

Today, The Day of Triumph, the Alleluia Day

 The great psalm, the psalm that started in anguish, is finished in triumph:

Then I will proclaim your name to my brethren;

in the assembly I will praise you:

“You who fear the LORD, give praise!

All descendants of Jacob, give honor;

show reverence, all descendants of Israel!

For he has not spurned or disdained

the misery of this poor wretch,

Did not turn away from me,

but heard me when I cried out.

I will offer praise in the great assembly;

my vows I will fulfill before those who fear him.

The poor will eat their fill;

those who seek the LORD will offer praise.

May your hearts enjoy life forever!”

All the ends of the earth

will remember and turn to the LORD;

All the families of nations

will bow low before him.

For kingship belongs to the LORD,

the ruler over the nations.

All who sleep in the earth

will bow low before God;

All who have gone down into the dust

will kneel in homage.

And I will live for the LORD;

my descendants will serve you.

The generation to come will be told of the Lord,

that they may proclaim to a people yet unborn

the deliverance you have brought.

And the tomb stands empty.

A blest and holy Easter to all, for our tears have been turned into joy, and He Is Risen!

Since Wednesday Night...

Since Wednesday we have heard our Lord's great cry of anguish, his cry of separation and abandonment:

God, my God, why have you abandoned me?

It is the great lament of Psalm 22, and perhaps if those present were in a state to think about it their minds may have continued with it:

Why so far from my call for help,

from my cries of anguish?

My God, I call by day, but you do not answer;

by night, but I have no relief.

Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;

you are the glory of Israel.

In you our fathers trusted;

they trusted and you rescued them.

To you they cried out and they escaped;

in you they trusted and were not disappointed.

But I am a worm, not a man,

scorned by men, despised by the people.

All who see me mock me;

they curl their lips and jeer;

they shake their heads at me:

“He relied on the LORD—let him deliver him;

if he loves him, let him rescue him.”

For you drew me forth from the womb,

made me safe at my mother’s breasts.

Upon you I was thrust from the womb;

since my mother bore me you are my God.

Do not stay far from me,

for trouble is near,

and there is no one to help.

Many bulls surround me;

fierce bulls of Bashan encircle me.

They open their mouths against me,

lions that rend and roar.

Like water my life drains away;

all my bones are disjointed.

My heart has become like wax,

it melts away within me.

As dry as a potsherd is my throat;

my tongue cleaves to my palate;

you lay me in the dust of death.

Dogs surround me;

a pack of evildoers closes in on me.

They have pierced my hands and my feet

I can count all my bones.

They stare at me and gloat

they divide my garments among them;

for my clothing they cast lots.

But you, LORD, do not stay far off;

my strength, come quickly to help me.

Deliver my soul from the sword,

my life from the grip of the dog.

Save me from the lion’s mouth,

my poor life from the horns of wild bulls.

But tomorrow, ah tomorrow, the song we will sing.

Ow

 Broke down and got the Covid sticks even though I haven't been particularly worried about the bug.  First one was about 3 weeks ago.  Second was Monday.   Woke up Tuesday and I think my ears were the only things not howling in pain. Spent the day popping Tylenol and laying on the couch wanting to sleep.  Which I couldn't do because the shot also gifted me with hours of RLS.

Somebody tells me that I have to wear a mask after that and I may smack them.

Was Just Reminded

A Question To Ponder

Marilyn Mosby, MD's States Attorney for that gem of a city, Baltimore,  has announced she won't prosecute crimes like drug dealing 'cause racist.  Biden has a pen and a direct phone line to Obama, so he's just issuing executive orders right and left, regardless of elected representatives.

So, given that legislatures pass laws that certain people in executive positions are actively ignoring, why do we need to keep paying legislators?  For that matter, why should MD, for instance, even keep paying for a governor, since he signed laws into action?  Legislators and governors seem to have become superfluous.

Quote of the Day

Apropos the usual gun craziness:  "Making good people unsafe will not make bad people safer."

And winner of today's "Lack of Self Awareness" award:  Kamala Harris and Bill Clinton are going to hold a discussion on "empowering women and girls."

Apparently One Of The Most Useless Titles In The US Is...

 ..."known to the FBI"...

Ahmad al-Aliwi Alissa - Boulder, CO; 10 killed

Omar Mateen - Orlando, FL; 59 killed, 53 wounded

Tashfeen Malik - San Bernadino, CA; 14 killed, 22 wounded

Tsarnaev brothers - Boston, MA; 3 killed, 264 wounded

Elton Simpson - Garland, TX; 1 wounded

Nadir Soofi - Garland, TX; 1 wounded

Nikolas Cruz - Parkland, FL; 17 dead, 17 wounded

Nidal Hasaan - Ft. Hood, TX; 13 dead, 32 wounded

Guess they've been too busy chasing white supremists to pay much attention to small details like warnings about possible whack job or terrorist shootings.

Anybody Remember This In 2015?

I remember the family who didn't know where their children were because police/CPS in uber-liberal Montgomery County, MD, had nabbed them as they walked home from a local park one day in 2015 and didn't contact the parents for hours.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/free-range-flap-in-maryland-fans-flames-of-national-debate-on-parenting/2015/04/18/ebc10248-e47e-11e4-81ea-0649268f729e_story.html?tid=a_inl_manual

The parents were condemned and excoriated by many in the general public.  They were in many people's eyes neglectful.  CPS opened cases against them.

Now parent-less children are flooding across our border, sent thousands of miles in the company of strangers in what Biden administration officials have referred to as a loving act.

Once again, if liberals didn't have double standards they wouldn't have any at all.

The admin has refused entry to border facilities, but has said that THEY would provide pictures.  How very reminiscent of North Korean, communist Chinese, Soviet socialist, and Nazi German propaganda machines.

Update:

Oops, leakage has started and pictures of all the love are getting out.

The American Civil War 2.0 Has Actually Gone Hot...

 ...if the Biden administration actually believes what it says about the China Flu - "once in a century pandemic", +500,000 dead from it, we have to get vaccinated AND still stay masked, distanced, and locked down, etc. etc. etc.  And we do know, and have known since the first outbreaks that it is indeed a killer of the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions.

Even CNN and the New York Times have acknowledged that our southern border is now absolutely flooded.

About 6% of those crossing the border illegally are infected with Wu Flu, and the government is both busing them into communities in the dead of night and allowing them to disperse across the U.S.

The collapse of our border isn't accidental:  Biden declared during the campaign that one of the things he would do differently is create a border surge.  This administration is deliberately seeding this disease into the U.S. in order to maintain control.  We expect a "hot" war to involve guns, but people are going to be sickened and killed by this - Greyhound bus drivers have already contracted the disease DESPITE ALL ON BOARD THE BUSSES BEING REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS. (Put that one in your pipes, Karens, and smoke it.)

There is a growing cry for the impeachment of Andrew Cuomo (D - Sociopath) for New York's nursing home deaths.  Biden's administration is doing exactly the same thing Cuomo did, and they are doing it on a much larger scale.
