Heated Laziness

That pretty much describes yesterday.  The broken toilet seat got replaced.  The front yard got mowed.  Then the Shenandoah River called.

Beach chair immersed in the water and a book.  Goldfinches flitting in the trees and dragonflies landing on my shoulders.  Minnows nibbling on my toes.  Some sunburn happened.  Nice, nice day for those of us that could then retreat to air conditioning, a shower, and cold beer.

Most of my immediate area is back on-line.  The D.C. - Baltimore areas are getting better but thousands are still without power and broiling in the heat.  There are talks of hearings again, especially since a big increase in fees is coming.  Above ground lines ($1 million a mile to put underground), homeowners who won't give permission to trim trees, the ferocity of the storm are all being given as reasons.  Or excuses.  I'm sort of torn on my opinion.  Our own power company had to deal with things like this, some in remote areas.

That's not exactly the same as a tree limb down on a line.

  1. Wow, that is a pretty dramatic picture of the power in the last storm.

    Your day sounds lovely.

    1. I believe I read that 47 of the big transmission towers were taken out by the storm.

  2. Yep, everybody wants trees, UNTIL they knock down the power lines, THEN it's the power company's fault... Stoopid idjits... Glad your beach chair worked out :-)

    1. There were some people upset a couple years ago when the power company came through and did serious clearing, but I was glad they took care of trees I'm afraid to mess with myself. I've got 2 more that are getting too big too close to the lines, so I think I'll ask them to knock them down after things calm down. I could probably do it but it would be just my luck for the stoopid thing to do a back flip and come down right on the lines.
