Grandfather, who died in 72, was less than 2 yrs older. While in the trenches, he suffered one of the gas attacks, but he made it home. I am blessed to remember sitting on his lap at the age of 3 or 4 ... I have this vague memory of mom telling me to not kick. He was 80 when he passed 2 days before xmas. I remember a bit or 2 about the day of the funeral and the church funeral. I was sent back with other grandfather because I was starting to fidget and also the weather was horrendous. I've been told it was so cold the man playing taps was having a tough time with the mouthpiece being so cold.
