From the Field

In lieu of content, since life is way too busy right now, a few more photos from a guy doing field work in Alaska.   I've had to watch for cottonmouths, fire ants, and humongous spiders while observing, but not grizzlies.

I didn't think to ask if he took the photo from the truck.  Somewhere along Rt. 7 between Chilkat and Chilkoot Lakes.

h/t Eric, who contributed this.

  1. A bit o' Alaskana for ya: no one calls it Rt. 7, here. It's the Haines Highway.
I know, I know, but whatcha gonna do?

Cool pic of Mama and her cubs, though. Not sure the truck was far enough away. :)

    1. Kinda like the cultural difference in the answer to the question of 'How far?' As a resident of the D.C. metro area I answer in terms of time, not distance.

  2. Stepped outside tonight. Shot six mosquitoes then reloaded. Two were only stunned, so double tapped 'em. One still crawled six feet before it died. Bears are pussies....

    1. I have discovered that I don't notice mosquitos until the next day. Then I notice that they've chewed the heck out of me.
