One thing I've confirmed the last few days is that I can't eat this $#!+:
I don't mean this particular brand or variety. I just can't stand canned food. I try to eat it and then I throw it away and just go hungry. With the exception of cranberries and pickled beets. But I'm OK with, even though not overly enthused by, dried foods. When I get back on my feet my canned emergency stores are going to the local food pantry and dried foods will replace them. I realize that eventually, in a crisis, I'd eat it whether or no but I figure while I have options I'll take them.
For right now, though, my body needs nutritious fuel, and while I was waiting for my prescriptions to be filled I picked up some groceries. Currently simmering in the slow cooker:
Base layers: shredded cabbage, chicken thighs, apples, cranberries. Liquids and seasonings: chicken broth, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, salt. Recipe is here if you are interested.
I adore the person who invented the crock pot.
I figure that even if I can't taste it real well it's a lot better on so many levels than trying to eat that canned stuff.
I hope you get better quickly, now.
